Begin your journey in Entebbe, where you are collected and driven through Uganda’s lush countryside to Fort Portal. Pause to explore the Amabere g’Nnyinamwiru Caves, an ancient site steeped in local legend, before hiking the Fort Portal Crater Field and ascending Kyeganywa Hill for panoramic views of crater lakes and the distant Rwenzori Mountains. Continue to Kibale National Park, a sanctuary of lowland and montane forests, home to over 13 primate species including chimpanzees and L’Hoest’s monkeys. Spend the night in comfort at Crater Safari Lodge or Chimpanzee Forest Guesthouse.
The following day, immerse yourself in the world of chimpanzees with a guided trek through Kibale’s verdant forest. Encounter chimps up close, observe their social behaviour, and capture memorable photographs. Later, explore the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a thriving birding hotspot, before heading to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This park features diverse habitats ranging from savannah to crater lakes, hosting over 95 mammal species and 600 birds.
On day three, experience the Kasenyi Plains on an early morning game drive, spotting elephants, buffalo, leopards, and Uganda kob. In the afternoon, board a launch along the Kazinga Channel, observing hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and abundant waterbirds from close range. Conclude the day with a short evening game drive along the channel track, before relaxing at your lodge, either Mweya Safari Lodge or Enganzi Game Lodge.
Depart Queen Elizabeth National Park’s Ishasha sector, home to the legendary tree-climbing lions. Continue south to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and sanctuary for almost half of the world’s mountain gorillas. Check in at Haven Lodge Buhoma or Gorilla Mist Camp and prepare for a transformative gorilla trekking experience the next day.
On day five, trek through the dense forest with expert guides to meet mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Witness these remarkable creatures and other primates, including duikers, colobus monkeys, and chimpanzees. After this life-changing encounter, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, travelling through the terraced Kigezi Highlands. Enjoy a relaxing evening boat cruise on the “place of many little birds,” surrounded by lush islands and abundant birdlife. Overnight stays are at Birdnest @Bunyonyi Resort or Lake Bunyonyi Rock.
On day six, return to Entebbe with a stop at the Igongo Cultural Centre for a traditional lunch. Pause at the Uganda Equator crossing at Kayabwe for a unique photo opportunity straddling the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Complete your journey at Entebbe International Airport, concluding your six-day luxury safari experience in Uganda.
